Very Important Information if you are coming from a Claims Made policy:

According to OCP:

If you are coming from a claims-made professional liability policy, you must request an Extended Reporting Period Coverage (for three years of retroactive coverage) from your previous provider.

The reason we advise for you to retrieve this is because you are moving from your current provider’s professional liability insurance, which is a claims-made policy, to our product with Aviva, which is an occurrence-based policy.

You can see a brief description of these types of insurance products below:

Where a policy is written on a “claims-made” basis, this means that the policy in force at the time a claim against you is made will pay for losses, regardless of when they occurred in the past. Claims-made policies always offer ERP.

With an “occurrence” based policy, even though the policy may have expired, provided the policy was in force at the time that the bodily injury or property damage occurred, a claim can still be made against it.

MORE Important Information:

Our product complies with OCP requirements & is provided through Aviva Insurance Company.

Pharmacists administering Immunization must be covered by insurance, by regulation. If this is part of your operations, this coverage can be added to your policy if you wish.

FAQ—Below is some information from the OCP WEBSITE:

Q1. How will OCP administer compliance with this registration requirement?

A1. During initial application and annual fee renewal thereafter, members will be asked to make a declaration attesting that they maintain personal professional liability insurance coverage as prescribed in Article 2 of College By-Law and will continue to maintain this insurance throughout the registration year. Upon the request of the Registrar, a member may also be asked to provide proof of professional liability insurance in the required amounts and form, and a copy of the Member’s professional liability insurance policy.

Q2. As a student, how do I report my ongoing insurance coverage given that I do not renew my license every year?

A2. At the time that you apply for studentship, you will be required to answer a declaration attesting that you maintain personal professional liability insurance coverage as prescribed in Article 2 of College By-Law and will continue to maintain this insurance throughout your registration. You are required to answer this declaration only once during your registration as a student.
